Stuart Lawler is Head of Technology Innovation at the National Council for the Blind of Ireland (NCBI). He has almost 20 years’ experience in the sector, and has previously managed NCBI’s Rehabilitative Training facility, and has worked as a technical support and training specialist.
He believes passionately that technology is the greatest equaliser for people with disabilities. He is a keen Braille user and is involved in several initiatives to promote its on-going use in Ireland, especially within the education system.
Currently Stuart is developing NCBI’s technology strategy, leading a team of specialists who are supporting and promoting accessible technology for people with impaired vision, their friends and family and is also involved in advocacy to insure that technology does not pose a barrier for people to access education, employment or services.
